The Argentina striker continues to dazzle the footballing planet with his talents on the pitch, and once again was voted the best player in the world by the FIFA Football Committee and a panel of experts from France Football magazine.
The 2014/2015 season was a special one for the player, who won the Liga BBVA title and set up the greatest number of goals in the championship with 18 assists. He was the second highest scorer with 43 goals. In the current campaign, Messi has scored a total of 9 goals.
Last season, he also became the all-time top scorer in the Liga BBVA, surpassing former Athletic Bilbao striker Telmo Zarra's mark of 251 goals, after scoring a hat-trick in a 5-1 win over Sevilla FC.
In addition to Liga BBVA 2014/2015, Messi won the UEFA Champions League, being the top scorer with 10 goals and the top assists provider with six, the Copa del Rey, the FIFA World Club Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. Along with the five titles achieved collectively he landed the UEFA 2015 award for Best Player in Europe.
The Ballon d'Or collected on Monday, is the fifth in his career adding to the tophies he won in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
